Just watched a video on FB. He didn't deliver the kill shot with the hand gun...not sure what he was doing there. He shot the gator with another gun while it was still in the ditch.

MLK Blvd? Leave it alone and let it crawl around.

Negative. He left a fair amount of room.

Why didn't he tape the mouth and roll out is the wierd question?

Too big to deal with unless it was dead.....you ever try and manhandle a 8-9' gator? Safest method was exactly what he did.....

seriously, a hammer to the skull would've been all that was needed. hell a machete struck across the head would've worked fine.

Did this guy work for animal control? I find it funny Terrebone Parish PD just let some random baw with a gun off a gator on a busy intersection. Doesn't seem smart at all. His H.L.B. dress code seems rather lax for anything official

Maybe to eliminate the chance of missing.....you know, having a bullet ricochet in the middle of town.

That rain was legit. I was at m&l stuck in my truck for almost 49 minutes. Hailing. I wish I had heard about this sooner I would have gone over there.

Can you imagine the backlash when a video goes viral of a guy whacking away with a hammer or machete on an innocent alligator? Remeber the gorilla?

The quickest way to deal with the threat is to cap it.....as long as the guy knows what hes doing, dont have to worry about a ricochet.

I would think something that size would pose a huge threat to oncoming traffic if left alone

There are nuisance gator hunters in the state of Louisiana and licensed by LDWF to deal with stuff like this.

Why would the cops let him shoot it with a shotgun right next to traffic like that? Wow, that was pretty dumb. He easily could of put a rope around its mouth, tied it up, and then take a knife to its spine. I've killed plenty of gators and that was just dumb, yeah the likely hood of a ricochet is low but its still a possibility.

Most likely with cops there that guy was a licensed trapper. Most of those trappers just get paid as a side gig by the state to take care of the gators. Its not like they are state employees or anything.

If you can't hit it from a few feet away you shouldn't be firing in the middle of town.
