Did you atleast ask him to not throw trash in the water? That's the only part of your story that bothers me

I know it was a really crappy experience for you, but that is some pretty funny shite!

I have no problem with someone catching a little buzz when appropriate, but my tolerance for being around sloppy drunks has grown pretty thin over the years.

Unfortunately, it sounds to me like your barber won't be around much longer at that rate.

Same. I always thought food/drink ice chest and fish ice chest was standard practice

Had a similar experience. A vendor for our company invited a bunch of us to their fishing camp. I wasn't close with anyone I worked with, but I had just started this new position and figured it'd be a good chance to get to know the older guys with my company. This is before I had my boat, so I end up fishing with this one guy who I barely knew. What a mistake. Was drunk as shite. Blared kid rock (and he was like 50). Would ask all the boats that passed if they were catching anything, and if they asked back, he's reply "catching a buzz" then yell "woooo". Didn't catch shite because all he would do is the up and try to catch drum, but didn't really know what he was doing. When a boat in eye sight would catch a fish, he'd scream and wave his hands like he was cheering for them . Had a boat full of high school kids pass while I was pissing off the back the boat (facing other way), they cracked a joke......he literally tried to get them to meet him on land and fight them. I wasn't even remotely offended or anything. On top of it, he blew through no wake zones with boats tied up

Getting on a boat with a shitty person is one of the worst things ever. I try to only fish with people I know, or people who have someone I know vouch for them or something. I'm no expert fisherman, but I do tend to hate most people and I don't emwant to be trapped on a boat with a bad one.

That guy got ran off from our company and we still make jokes about that trip. I soon learned he was as miserable when sober and at work.

It sounds to me like you need to not step out on your BFF and go fishing without him.

Reminds me of being out on the water with my Grandfather when I was a kid. He carried 2 ice chest but fish always found its way in both chest. If he pulled a Budweiser out of the box, he would just dip it in the water, and tap that can with an opener. This was back in the 60s, Baw. He could frikken Fish, and nothing was too important to go fishing! He would be out on the tractor working a field and a friend would pull up, they would talk and his buddy would say, "Fred, lets go fishing!" And his standard answer was 'awwite'. He would turn the tractor off and leave it in the damn field and off he would go. I love that man, think of him every day, sure do miss him!

Monday is his day off if he's a barber.

He probably figured you were driving so he would get hammered

This was a good read. Slimy beers make a trip imo. Depending on the species those little cats are perfectly fine to keep. Taste great actually.

My guess is many of you haven't fished of small enough boats. My first three boats had no room for two ice chests. So we would start off with one chest with ice and drinks drink room for the fish and when full head in. Fished like that for a long time.

Now I have a boat with a fish box and drink box it's great but a little fish slime on a beer never hurt me...

I gotta say, that sounds like a terrible day to me. I'll have a beer or two when I'm out on the boat, but my boat is small, and i dont mix fish with beer in the ice chest either, so I'd too, need two ice chests. And my boat is small, so the less shite I bring, the easier it is to move around in there. I typically just fill the ole yeti cup with ice and water and bring a couple more bottles of water, and I'm good to go for about 6 hours.

ETA: born and raised coonass here. and I will have a handfull of whisky and waters if someone else is driving, but I find it hard to bass fish AND get shite faced. Now, if the bass aren't biting, and I start bream fishing, that could get ugly. Again, only if I'm not the one driving.

And I'm never driving when we set lines in the river, so I typically catch a nice buzz doing that for sure.
