So this morning at work I put together my duck harvest of the season. I am sure it is similar to many hunters. Obviously I aint bragging hahah, slightly embarassed, but I did hunt hard and went as often as I could.

Area: Pheonix, Louisiana
Hunt #: 11 hunts
Total ducks: 21
Skunked hunts: 3

Teal: 8
Buffle head: 4
Treeducks: 4
Woodie: 1 (hen)
Mottled: 2
Grey: 1 (drake)
Dos Gris: 1

With many people saying that the duck numbers are fudged, I would like to see people say what they killed honestly?

My hunting averages are exactly what they have been for the last 4-5 years I’ve tracked

2 ducks per gun per hunt
1.1 specs per gun per hunt
0.9 snows per gun per hunt

Pretty damn consistent. Peak season always comes mid December through end of January.

I'm at 3.8 ducks per hunt over all(in LA)

3 ducks per hunt in SE LA Marsh no scratches 5 hunts

4.2 ducks per hunt Timber SC La (public and private) 3 scratches 19 hunts.

.8 ducks per hunt rice field SW La 3 scratches. 8 hunts

81 ducks over all but I have had to hunt and work harder than ever before for them.

Think I'm at 35 or so. Only two this second split. Worst year duck hunting I can remember. Normally in the 70-100 range but we hunt a lot. Have friends in the oil business and they hunt a lot when their off.

4 Hunts

1. SC LA Marsh - 1 coot
2-4 SC LA timber - 0 ducks (1 box of shells fired, all misses)

I got the yips

ETA: Saw probably 100 ducks all season. All woodrows and teal. Also the only thing gave even a glance at shooting were woodrows and teal jet fighter piloting past at first light

My lease in West Memphis is probably under 90 birds, 10 of those being Canadas.
I have hunted a buddies place in north Arkansas, 3 days and we killed 12, 1, and 9, with 3 or 4 hunting each day.
I keep threatening to go on public land, but I have gotten lazy from lease hunting

Area: Public Land East and Coastal Zone
Hunt #: 12
Total Ducks: 49
Skunked Hunts: 2

Teal:18
Grey:5
Mallard:10
Mottled:1
Wood:6
Canvasback:1
Dos Gris:8

Our average is off because of a few good hunts. One day would would be a great hunt, and the next would be 1 bird. 80% of this was in the first split. Also went on a guided trip in LA and shot a 9 man limit at the beginning of the season that I didn't include in the numbers. For what it cost, you damn sure should shoot a bunch of birds.

MS Delta:
5 hunts: avg 2.5mallards/gun/hunt & handful of woodies/grays here and there
Wish I had been able to make a few more, but such is life with 2 young kids.

Coastal MS:
2 teal hunts: nada, zero, not squat

Made a trip to OK and killed some Sandhills and a pretty decent mallard shoot.

Overall much better than 2018-2019

Thought it was obvious I meant the reduction in hunts, and you are absolutely right!

I've had pretty good deer seasons the last two years, but duck hunting hasn't been a strong suit.

And to think at one time I killed north of 250 a year for several years.

I miss decent duck hunting in a bad way.

We’re at about 1,200 for the group total. Granted, this is 15 “members”, plus our extended family and friends. We are fortunate enough to have access to several thousand acres in the delta spread over 3 counties. We may have people hunting 5-6 spots on a given morning. 5 years ago this would be considered a down year. 15 years ago it would be considered a shitty year. But it’s a good bit better than last year and for that we are thankful

3 hunts, 10 birds - 2 woodies 8 mallards- should have 10 mallards but got cocky on Sun. and couldn't shoot. Too busy admiring them working in the bright sunlight.

I keep records for me and the hunters with me. They are totals for my dog really. All trips had 2 hunters except for 1 where we had 3.

Area: Venice and Bayou Sauvage Public Land
November 2 (coastal youth hunt, 2 hunters) - 7 bw teal, 1 spoonie, 1 coot
November 3 (coastal youth hunt, 2 hunters) - 1 bw teal
November 16 (east zone youth hunt, 2 hunters) - 2 gadwall, 3 scaup, 1 gw teal, 4 coot
November 30 - 1 gadwall, 2 wigeon, 1 coot
December 13 - 1 gadwall, 1 scaup
December 20 - 3 ringnecks, 4 scaup
January 1 - 3 redheads and 1 scaup
January 19 - 1 wigeon

So 38 ducks total and 32 real ducks if you throw out the poo doo.
8 hunts yields 4.8 ducks per hunt, 2.2 per hunter per hunt.
No zero hunts this year. Had 3 out of 8 last year.

Edit: Can't count properly.

Yeah I chose to not include my coot shoots. But three other guys on our lease shot 43 coots one day, and they did it entirely legally which is the crazy part!
