By all means, you're welcome to subject your guns to this kind of abuse, although there is no practical scenario that this would happen in. It's a marketing gimmick started by Glock and a great one. First they had to show why a plastic frame gun would be better than a steel frame, so they made some promotional videos of how it could withstand these unlikely scenarios. Also, Glock knew that if he sold these new pistols for what he could, people would just think they were some cheap piece of garbage. That's why police get such great discounts on them. They're actually just paying what the guns were originally going to sell for. Glocks definitely have their place. I think they're a much better issue gun for the masses, such as police departments, for their simplicity and lack of need for a skilled gunsmith to change out parts since they simply drop in, but they are well overpriced for what they are.
