Home fencing (breezeway fence) questions? Bump and edit for fencing material.

Been getting quotes and shocked at pricing.
We have about 15-16 foot span of fence that is old. Wooden posts in concrete. These posts are going to snap any day now.
Want to replace with metal fencing that everyone has now. We've been getting told $1800? Seems steep, but I very well could be an idiot.
Would wood be cheaper?
Anyone know of a good company?

Do it yourself, my neighbor (next door) split the material cost and built ours.

Aluminum Fencing
We ordered from this company because the fence looked like metal and not typical aluminum, it was easy to install.

that is generally going to be aluminum, which is a lot less maintenance than iron...it does cost a good bit, though.

I think I am capable of some. BUT the posts. Cutting out the old wooden ones boring them out and replacing is beyond me I believe.

It is really pretty easy, I am sure there is plenty of videos on YouTube. Once I had my first post installed, I would attach a panel and set the next post. I was a continuous process. The wood fence post are probably on 8' centers, the aluminum would be no more than 6' so you can cut the old post flush with the ground and it shouldnt effect the new post, as long as you have a little play on the end post.

The fence has 4 posts. 4x4" standard posts. They'd have to come up and be dug out and concrete placed around the smaller replacement metal posts.
Wish chain link wasn't trashy.

Fasten board to the post and put a jack under the post away from the base. Jack up post out of the ground.
Easy peasy

Cut them off at the ground and leave the concrete, move over about 6-8" for the new ones.
You'll kill yourself trying to pull those old post up Baw

Do not use Forrest Scott.
Had a bad experience with them with a low ball quote and a ridiculous cost increase beyond any other quotes just before starting the job.
I did not go with them and they changed their URL because of the Google complaints.

There is no grass or "ground" to deal with. The whole fence is over cement. 4x4 posts are completely surrounded in cement.

Well shite, sounds like you just need the some of the aluminum brackets that attach to the top of the concrete with screws. Any pictures?

pea gravel from pool deck on one half of posts. cement from driveway on other half of posts.
I NEED to have posts remain in same spots. This is a main point of access to our pool as well. THE MAIN point. So it has to have a gate. And a child lock gate due to the pool.

/bump and edit.
Found a contractor, but we need to buy our own gate and fence. Suggestions on fence?
Just Lowe's or Home Depot? What are some good brand names?

Yes. I believe this is what we have switched to in stead of boring more hols for a 4x4 post in our concrete. How sturdy is this? I assume anything that would knock this fence down would be significant enough to make our breezeway fence the least of our worries?
