I've killed pigs with a .17 HMR.

So pretty much anything will kill them. May as well get something useful for deer, as you may eventually hunt those later. .243, 25-06, whatever.

sorry, i should not have assumed he was a decent shot. if you can't kill a deer with a .243, may as well stick to buckshot.

We go to South Texas, Victoria area. Its not a guide or anything if that's what you were wondering.

The guy we go with is a friend with a bunch of farming land. It really is his job to go shoot hogs a few times a week with all of his cool toys, I am very jealous of him.

Your hog hunting hobby seems to conflict with your username.

We shoot 4-5 hogs each night, but probably see around 20 hogs. We walk the roads on the guys property and shoot them when we get close enough.

I moved down here about six months ago but have been hog hunting down here for several years. Like the Arkansas Razorbacks, hogs are very devastating to Louisiana !!
Mainly just trying to help the local farmers and recoup a little money, its a VERY expensive hobby!

Ruger 10/22 for 260 at bass pro.

.22 LR or .17 hrm would work fine. Head shots only

The group I hunt with (5-6 guys) have killed 820 the last two years and are at 25 so far this year. 18 is our best night so far, weather hasn't cooperated very well so far this year

shite. Sign me up. I'm not a bad shot, but I got more ammo than Rambo (I do have to reload though).

Win one SEC game out of 30 and the shite talking starts. Talk about low expectations.

An AR with a lot of tacticool accessories like the rest of the OB. They're great deer rifles too apparently

Most rifles .223 and bigger will be plenty adequate.

Get an AR in 223 if you're into that, or if you think you'll deer hunt in the future, look at the Ruger American rifles or lower end Savages in one of the common calibers (.308, .270, .30-06).

Not many wrong answers in this thread, just pick what suits your fancy.
