HK question

So I'm looking at a HK P30L.
Should I get one with a safety? Or no safety?
Is not having a safety dangerous?

Not keeping a round in the chamber is dangerous.
ETA: It's a personal preference thing. Some of my pistols have safeties, others don't.

I have P2000 with no safety and I think it's the safest way to go. Pull the trigger and fire, along with a projectile, comes flying out the business end. I keep my finger off of the trigger and my thumb on the bobbed hammer until I want it to fire. I think the hammer is a huge safety device over a conventional striker fired gun.
If you can find a V1 (light LEM) I'd go for it.

What are you use too? Guns with safety's?if so then that is what I would get.

No I don't like a switch safety. If you need the gun for a defensive purpose, make it as easy as possible to use. I promise in the fight the first thing you will forget to do is turn the safety off once your adrenaline and fear start setting in

Only other handgun is a revolver. So no safety there.
All of my shotguns and rifles have safeties. I use these the most and keep the safety on all the time.

On my phone so I can't link it right now, but check out my YouTube channel, Bigapple0828.
I have a video called "firearm safeties - needed or unnecessary?" and I break down each type.
You'll see that I agree with most posters here in that I like my gun to be as simple as possible. If I have to use it in a defensive scenario, I would prefer to just point and pull the trigger.

I would first ask, what type of use?
There are some situations you might want a safety.
I would suggest no safety on that gun since you will probably end up shooting the shite out of it. The non-safety version also has longer slide releases which I like and make it easier to get to in battery.

Will use for home defense and target shooting.
Ok, I think I'm going to get the model without a safety then. I guess not clambering a round will be my safety.

Be sure to get some basic firearms training. It will be money well spent and will help you develop some basic safety skills. Look for a firearms training center wherever you live

I have a friend that was going to teach me some things. I can look into a class also.
I guess that is why I started with a revolver first. Very simple and reliable gun. It still is my camping and truck gun.

Don't get the L. Regular P30 is perfect size. I had the V3 with safety and loved it.

HK makes a SA/DA gun w/ a safety & a de-cocker!
Rack a round, de-cock, safety.
For those of you against a safety....
FYI... you can always choose to not use the safety.

I find the L version the perfect balance. I prefer it to the regular and when I go to the range, I have to leave it at home if I want to shoot other guns because if I start, before I realize I have shot a few hundred rounds through it.

I carry a P30 on duty in V3 cocked and locked and love it. But then again I am coming from a 1911 so it's a natural setup for me. My buddy has the LEM trigger in his am he loves that setup so I think it's just personal preference. Good gun though. Good luck finding extra mags though.

Also debatable.
Your trigger finger should be your safety.
