I don't visit this board very often, so I'm not really sure if it's ever a subject. I was curious if anyone had any really good back country hikes they have been on. I usually like to go out for a few days. Just got back from a nice one in Arkansas. Just looking for something off the beaten path, or just somewhere different anyone has been. Thanks.

Bump from earlier.
Been to a few of those sites before. Always hard to tell how busy some of those trails are. Really just looking for any personal recommendations.

If you google "tigerdroppings hiking trails" and " tigerdroppings wild azalea trail" ayou'll find many in-depth hiking discussions about different area trails. Many with a lot of the insight you're looking for
I'd link a few, but on mobile and would proably screw it up.

Where are you looking to hike? There are a lot of sites you can plug in locations and get reviews.
That looks like Mt. Whitney in your sig. I love that place, a flaring up of my IT band is the only thing that kept me from the top.

Avy is Mt. St. Elias, 18,008 ft tall and the second highest continental mountain in the world, base to summit. The Mts in the sig pic are the Coast Range, and the Mendenhall Valley here in Juneau with the Northern Lights, as seen from the north end of Douglas Island where I live.
We actually have more miles of hiking trails here than miles of road.

Also Denali and Wrangell-St Elias National Parks in Alaska, Olympic and North Cascades NP in Washington State.
Check this out. This is just insane.

Yeah..
I Can't see how he can smoke and deal with that kind of strenuous stuff. Guess if you smoke long enough you get used to it.
That kind of travel is just too hardcore. I don't see how there is any enjoyment outside of the satisfaction of the accomplishment.

I know a bunch of serious hikers that chain smoke. I don't get it.

I had a climbing guide tell me nicotine takes the edge off some of the hardship. He said quite a few smoke. Seems like the loss in aerobic capacity wouldn't be worth it, but to each his own.
This is a picture of Mt Wrangell yesterday from the park's FB page. If you look close you can see it steaming.

Pretty drive down from Tok to Glennallen if the weather allows. I think that's only been once for me... Those big volcanoes are beautiful.

I used to smoke when I drank, and well...I drank most of the time...and could do moderate hikes but it seems like the high altitude stuff like Mt. Logan would kill you if you smoke.

Maybe not an overall multi day trip, but, I really enjoy the Smoky Mountains National Park outside of Gatlinburg. You can spend as many days as you want there and still not hike all of the trails. Get the map and stay on the moderate to extreme trails and you'll have little company. Of course, the easy trails are usually chock full of people. Bring your tent and stay in one of the park areas, and you can call it a multi day trip!
I have patches from the majority of the trails in the park. Also, the scenery is magnificent.
