With the spawn coming up, i'm looking into splurging and finally buying a nice pair of polarized glasses.. the water i fish is usually slightly murky brown with a visibility of about 2 feet give or take..

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, T.I.A.

They're closer to $30 now, but if you tend to lose glasses, you can't beat the Calcuttas. Ive been wearing them for a few years now. Have a pair of all blacks on right now.

Check out skeleton optics. It is hard to beat the costas green 580g for murky water though

I love my costas. Kinda hard to choose a specific pair over the Internet though. Go try some different pairs on and see how they fit your head. Only a few pairs fit my head because I have a fat head.

Green lenses

Agree on costa 580g lens. Green or silver mirror lens, not blue.

Silver mirror is better if you anticipate needing the glasses in lower/varying light conditions as well as full sun. They have 12% light transmission compared with 10% for green and blue.

I noticed all glass lense Costa's are 580s now. I prefer the polycarbonate lenses however. Much lighter, scratch resistant, and cheaper.

I'm enjoying the shite out of my Oakley Turbine's with the Prizm Shallow Water lenses.

And they don't weigh a metric shite ton with plastic over glass lenses.

I'm real surprised on all of the costa responses.

If you want something quality and different than what every other redneck wears, try Maui Jims or Smiths

If I did not have to have RX, no way I'd pay for high dollar polarized glasses.

I've got my eyes on a few pairs of Smiths and a company called RCI.

ETA: those smith chromapop lenses are sweet

I don't know why you're doing the rolling eyes emoji

They're good glasses. I own MJs and Smiths too and they're fine. When I'm headed to the river I'm reaching for my Costas Bc I like them better. I don't know or care what another man is wearing I just know what has been best for me

Pogey if I'm not mistaken the glass is more scratch resistant. They are a bit heavier and I think that def requires the buyer to try them. Not a big difference for me but other will disagree

Maybe so, I just don't like the weight of glass lenses personally, especially if I'm wearing them on the boat all day

How big of difference is there in the quality of vision in $30 glasses as opposed to the higher end glasses?

I get that. With some of the frames I bet it's worse. Every face is different so some are probably more likely to have focal points of pressure with heavier glasses.

I'm not wearing my sunglasses to make or not make a statement.. I dgaf who wears what or what preconceived notions everyone has about who wears what glasses, I just want the best option for what I need them to do... take that FWIW

I'm on my 4th pair of costas. The 580glass lens in amber will fit your need the best. Although I bought a pair of amber lens XPS's from basspro for 20$ as a knock around pair and am really impressed.
