Looking to get a 12 gauge under $1,000. I don't really hunt but would like to give duck hunting a try. I want a gun that is nice enough that if I enjoy duck hunting I won't wanna upgrade and if I don't I still have a nice gun to shoot from time to time and can be passed down.

Spotted Dog has three almost new Beretta A400s on sales for right around $1000 - make the drive and go get one. All come with cases and chokes.

Can buy a top of the line in great condition used gun for that price. Go to local shop feel hold them all see what you like then find used one in your price range.

That does seem like a good deal. You can get one new at Bass Pro for $1400 though.

Beretta A300 Outlander can be had for $600-$700 and mine has functioned flawlessy with about 700 rounds through. Maybe more. Put an entire box of shells through it this morning. Accidentally completely submerged it in the marsh in Pecan Island wade hunting teal a wk ago, oiled it when I got home and sprayed break-free in the action and that was 100 rds ago. It's rugged and reliable. Browning BPS would be the other gun I would look for in your range. Currently looking for a used BPS 10 gauge. With the money you save in your budget, you could get plenty of shells and buy some decent waterfowl gear to go with it.
