So essentially spend money now(delete/tune) or spend money later when the emissions crap take a dump?

You'll definitely get better fuel mileage and not doing regens anymore will help turbo life.

Powerstroke.org?

I've seen a few guys there running the Banks tuner. DPF on tuner and it's like $320. I've considered it several times. Like I said I don't want more power, longevity and better mileage would tickle my fancy just fine.

My dpf is already clogged too. It's doing several regens per tank. I need Ford to clean it out, under warranty. Once it clogs again, it's coming off. If Ford denies warranty on it, after I raise hell, I'll delete.

Sorta.

A crapped emission system can be an extremely expensive operation.

IMO you're better off educating yourself about how the engine works and leaving it like it is. Chances are you won't have any issues until it's time to change the DPF (and that is unavoidable if you keep the truck long enough).

They should replace it under warranty. Gonna be tough to convince them that it needs to be changed though.

If you're clogging DPFs at low miles, you should delete the entire truck and get a new one. Something is probably wrong with it.

If I don't get the H&s, I'm going to get the SCT tuner. Run that dpf on till it delete with custom tunes. I have never been a fan of bully dog or banks.

Downshift, the fricked filter you just described, I got it.

I would just like to note this thread gives me a mild case of paranoia.

The guy that had the fuel pump issues, any signs or warnings or just totally took a dump?

I've recently developed an under hood buzzing sound that's noticeable louder than what it's ever been. Been trying to gauge my level of concern.

Truck has 50k miles on it and 2 years of warranty left. I've got time to get the dpf fixed or removed.

How many miles do you have on the truck? Eta: nevermind I see it.

That's very early to be plugged up. You should fight to have it replaced and not just cleaned.

If plugging up at 50k is normal for these things you should delete it.

Every single other forum is full of people saying their mpg went up, egts went down, hp gained 100 easily, and shifts were like butter. Those are all good things, if reliability is there.

Aye this be true. My Uncle did it to his 2008 3500 4x4 Cummins. Said he would do it 10/10 times. Gained almost 200 HP and 100 torques. Plus when he puts it in the economy setting on his computer chip he gets 25mpg on the highway. I don't know if this will destroy the engine in the long run but for now his truck is a beast. When we had that massive ice storm he spent 28 straight hours in it pulling cars out of ditches or ferrying people from the interstate to a shelter. Helped over 500 people. That truck is full of awesome.

The best thing about deleting a diesel is getting rid of the piece of crap DEF system. DEF systems have left me stranded on the side of the road at least 10 times, I kind of lost count. This was in 6 different trucks from 2 different companies on 2 different sides of the country. DEF sucks everywhere.

New CP3 is $1200. Take it to Ford and have them document the sound though. Ensure you drain your water filter every month and drive it like you stole it.

A family friend had the SCT DPF on tuner and hated it due to excessive regens. Ended up just doing a full delete. I've heard good about the Banks deal but still a bit leary of boxed tunes.

I had a 2011 6.7. Egr went out so I deleted it and added H&s tuner. It was bad arse.

I had 130k miles on it when the high pressure fuel pump blew apart. 4 weeks in the shop and 8200.00 to repair. Had nothing to do with the delete.

Search 6.7 fuel pump problems. They are starting to see quite a few.

It won't hurt the engine.

If he beats on it he'll eat a transmission pretty quick, but that's to be expected with that much more power than it was designed for.

Average mph over lifetime is barely over 45mph. It was a oil tycoons truck in a big city in Texas. Or at least that's what I tell myself. With my new job, no drives will be under 30 mins with most being 2 hours. I'll be able to blow the shite out.

I would never tune a truck with the emissions system still on it. That is begging for some very expensive problems.

NEVER frick with a diesel that has any type of emissions control stuff on it or you will almost definitely have problems.

I understand.
I'll mod a gas burner in a heartbeat.

My theory with this engine is, that since Ford designed it from the ground up to deal with emissions requirements, modding it and removing these components may be a bad thing.

Show me a 50-100K 6.7 diesel that has been modded with no issues and I'll happily admit to being wrong.

That's why mine is getting replaced at 100k. It's $1200 but 1/8 the price of a repair. It's too late to start adding centine but I will with the new one.

I truly don't get this, how can anyone even have that happen? The Fords give a 500 miles until empty warning on the DEF before going into limp mode. I'd assume others do the exact same thing. I fill mine up with fluid about once every 4-6 months out of precaution at the truck stop for about $2.65 a gallon and have only had my "500 miles until def empty" warning come on once in 41,000 miles.
