I'll throw in my own biased opinion as well. Grendel takes advantage of the great ballistics of the 6.5 round and uses it to maximizes the efficiency of out the AR15 platform to deliver as much lead and energy as possible at long distances. At 1000 yards you still have human lethal energy equal to 9mm at the muzzle of a pistol. For game like Deer and Hogs you still have 1000ftlbs of energy out to 400 yards. Compared to 223 you are moving more mass and because of the greater ballistic coefficient of the 6.5 the faster flatter (at short ranges) 223/556 starts losing seam around 300 yards and the 223 starts dropping like a rock compared to the 6.5g. As a sportsman if I were to only have one AR15 it would be in 6.5G. You get a nice adjustable weatherproof carbine that can humanly take any game would want here in the south. You can buy cheap steel cased ammo if you want to plink. Great at long ranged but still has enough magazine capacity for the SHTF scenario. Recoil is relatively mild so quick follow up shots are easy (Half that of 308 but I would say almost double that of 223).
Now that cons.
-10-15% drop in magazine capacity over 223/556
-Reliable/affordable magazines. Cant just run to the corner store and buy a Pmag you can trust sight unseen. Have to test you magazine to make sure it's reliable. Not all Grendel Magazines are reliable.
-Wide case means less material supporting the lugs. Cracked lugs on the bolt are probably the weak point. You will want a quality bolt.
-All the different grendel chambers can be confusing at first. Not all Grendel bolts/barrels will work together.

Got a 6.5 Grendel based off advice from this thread. It's an 18" ss barrel.
I now ask another question. Is the recoil light enough for my 6 yr old daughter to shoot? She has shot a 223 and no problems. Also has shot a 300 blk out and no problem. If so what hunting ammo should I get? Also I'll be using a suppressor with it....tia
She will be fine. I don't find my Grendel has much, if any, more kick than my 223/556. You will love it. What barrel did you get?

Haven't read great things about them, but they are cheap enough, so who cares?
For hunting ammo, look at the Hornady SST 123g. My grendel shoots the Hornady ELD-M at about .5 MOA or less if I do my part.

My Anderson 16" carbine shoots SST 123g and ELD-M at less than 1/2moa too. That's just good shooting ammo.
About 2-2.5moa for Wolf plinking ammo.

Absolutely. As far as ammo, ask Prop. I have for sure heard good stuff about Hornady sst 123gr.

It does have noticeably more recoil than the 223 though. Mine sort of feels somewhere between a 223 and a 243. Albeit closer to the 243 than the 223.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the barrel when you get it. Thinking about getting me one but seeing mixed reviews.

That link says "Grendel Type II". Is it a Grendel chamber or a "Grendel II" chamber? "Type II" is what Blackhole called their bolts that were actually Grendel/Beowulf bolts and not 7.62x39.

Part of my lack of recoil could be due to my Colt 6920 not having an adjustable gas block and is carbine length. My grendel is rifle length, has an adjustable gas block, and has a big magpul prs stock on it.
