The retention system lends itself to NDs because you have to push down and pull. Doing this fast enough can pull your finger into the trigger guard and cause a nd.

I guess on poorly designed ones maybe. I have used two different brands A LOT (Blackhawk and IMI), and my finger always comes off where the trigger guard meets the slide. One is a semi-button and the other a paddle.
I feel safer standing around a newb with that than one trying to draw and holster something not retained at their 5

Ive tried it and if rushed enough it happened a few times with an unloaded gun. My wife carried a serpa for like 4 or 5 years. Was super happy the day she got a different one.

The Serpa thing all comes down to a single issue. The holster was designed for you to use the pad of your finger (with the finger straight) to push the button so that when the pistol comes up out of the holster the finger slides up straight and ends up along the side of the pistol in the correct position.
The problems started when people used the tip of their finger to push the button. The way we all push buttons on a daily basis. Well that means the finger is curved and when the pistol is drawn the curved finger slides right inside the trigger guard. And you know what happens next... Boom.
Basically, the holster designers want the user to do something that isn't natural and that just never works out. For this reason, many trainers have banned the use of the holster. If you have one around, try it the two ways I described and you will see exactly what I mean. I didn't really understand until a buddy showed me. It is crystal clear now why the holsters are a bad idea.

I guess it's just been natural to draw that way for me and the people I know who have one. I don't have to pay attention to it at all, and it comes out correctly
Maybe the button is higher on mine. The G20 Blackhawk gives me no problems either. With the little bump-outs, I can't even get my finger to go inside the trigger guard when I draw it

Dude if you were in Va. Id trin you for free and even give you the ammo. Trust me shoot 2000 rounds yourself and youll be a pro.

awesome instructors
very, very high-end range
meet a lot of people in the community
barricades and vehicles
even if you don't like those things, shooting is a very perishable skill. it's a lot more fun to take a class than it is to go blast at the range with a bunch of retards.
they also get badass guest instructors like frank proctor, craig douglas, mike green, etc. you can take things like Armed Movement in Structures, Night Fighter, etc. Lots of fun. gotta pay to play, just like any other hobby

im sure you could. ive trained with a lot of military and LE guys, but it's just not the same as a class. my uncle is an instructor for NG and is probably the best shooter I've ever seen, but still, it's different when you're in a class with other committed, like-minded people. it's just fun.

1000 rounds seems like an awful lot to shoot in two days. Hell, loading 80 magazines sounds daunting. I guess people are more accustomed to the percussion and trigger abrasion. My trigger has ridges on the control surface and a fairly heavy pull, and after 3 boxes or so it gets irritating. I've heard people grind them off and/or lighten the pull, and as much as I love customizing my crap I'd leave that to the professionals.

I took two classes over a weekend that was like 750rds. It wasn't physically taxing per se, but all of that pew pew pew takes a toll on you

there's a Warfighter Concepts course that's 1800rds rifle and 500rds handgun
get some gloves, baw the Mike Green class (advanced concealed carry tactics) from last weekend was 1400 handgun rounds in two days.

The only problem I have ever experienced shooting all day is sore thumb from loading magazines.
