Remember back in the day when gun shows had just guns. Just got back from Kenner and 2/3s of tables guns n stuff. 1/3. Junk cheap junk. Last one for me. And Lamar Dixon is even worst. A true collector would make a 20 minute pass through and be gone

And it cost ten bucks for that fun. Miss them old days.

Yeah, I quit going to them, the last time was maybe 2-3 years ago at Lamar Dixon.

Huge amount of junk, horrible selection of used guns ($399 for a Ruger P85 that looked like it got caught in a trolling motor's blades!), a couple of surplus tables where the guys didn't even want to talk to you about what they had, and a bunch of AR accessories

Internet blows the shows away. For surplus guns and ammo, even with shipping and FFL, you still beat the shows, as long as you know what you're looking for.
That really sucks, because one of the big draws used to be NOT looking for something specific.

Most gun show vendors don't realize that the general public knows that Trump won and that gun & ammo prices are coming down. They still hope you'll pay the higher 'Hillary might win' prices.

Too many of them and internet ruined it as well. Prices are higher than what I can buy at Academy, much less online.

There is a growing market for throwing stars, toy marshmello shooters, and dream catchers

A gun show dealer will never be competitive with a Wal-Mart, Academy, or other high volume dealer. Most of those guys don't even make enough doing it to make selling guns a full time gig. They're paying more for guns than giant dealers who get special pricing and don't move enough volume to play the small margin game. That said, if the show wasn't profitable it would eventually die..so there is a market. I think everyone that hangs out on online gun forums knows at this point that gun shows aren't the great thing you remember them as. I think that perception is skewed too, as most memories are. "Back in the day" ammo was cheap in general, SKS rifles were $60 everywhere, 91/30s were $80, AKs were $250, etc. Those days are over thanks to inflation and supply drying up. I remember seeing as many jerky, dreamcatcher and jewelry vendors back in the 90s as well.

I see that kind of crap and can't imagine that any grown person buys it. But I guess they do.

We also used to have only one every quarter or so in town. Now it seems like there is one every month and its become diluted.

Yup. In the 90's I could get a russian forged SKS at the gun shows for $100. Tins of that ammo, steel core, was like a $100 or so and yes, the AK's were $250. Then Clinton closed the importation of them and I don't think they were ever reopened to the same level. Too bad, there was some real cheap stuff that was good.
