Gun Safety Reminder

I ran across this link on another forum.
A very gruesome reminder of what can happen when we don't practice good gun safety. It only takes one slip...

.357 Magnum Negligent Discharge

.357 Magnum Negligent Discharge

Meh...I've seen waaaaay worse.

And regardless of whether or not the gun just "went off," I don't see why he left him palm over the muzzle. That is just negligence at its finest.
Glad he's okay and glad his kid is okay, but he'll be paying the price of this for the rest of his life - without a middle finger on one hand.
And hey Downshift, there's your trusty 357 in action. Does quite a bit of damage, even out of a tiny KLCR.

so what do you think caused the misfire? Glad he is ok, but something doesn't sound right. he says,
"I did not have my fingers in the trigger guard or on the trigger. It was time for the lcr to be cleaned. So I cupped my hand and went to open the cylinder and bang."

With how long the trigger pull is on a double action revolver, and the fact that almost every firearm produced nowadays has a firing pin block, I think the trigger was pulled fully rearward.
Regardless of that question, the fact that his hand was in front of the muzzle is a hard lesson to learn in bad gun handling.

sucks for him to get shot and all, but there is no reason he shouldve had his hand there..

Never point a gun at something you aren't willing to destroy.

Yea, I'm trying to imagine any scenario on me doing this, and I can't.
But I guess his reminder is duly noted?

How? There's gotta be more to it.

Good thing it wasn't a .45acp. He wouldn't have anything left below his elbow.

Good thing it wasn't a .22. It would have traveled all the way up his arm, pinged around in his chest cavity piercing all his major organs and then up his neck and imbedded in his brain.

Well, you see, the thing with .22s is that they ricochet like a lot. A whole lot. I mean I once shot a squirrel in the head and it excited the a-hole and went straight back through the ear hole.
Weagle, har har. Errbody knows that the Judge is old news. Now, a pistol chambered in .243-08 is the future.

An idiot learned a lesson my daddy taught me long ago.

What kind of squirrels you hunting son?

Ever seen the movie The Hills Have Eyes? Remember how they were genetically mutated and had odd features? I liked that movie.
The above has nothing to do with my excited squirrels though. I think Jab was saying that he had an excited a-hole today too. Might want to ask him.
