Im a fan of Travis Miller with Millertime charters out of Dularge. Actually most of the guides out of dularge are good.

Dularge is great spot for consistency, will catch bigger fish in big lake, venice, ponchatrain but action may be too slow for a kid, with dularge trout bite fairly consistent as well as reds.

I'm good friends with Josh Ellender, as well as all the other guides down there are great, Travis Miller, Travis Lovell, etc.

Check out Travis Lovell. Booked a trip with him last year and we had a great time. I had my son and his friend on the boat and he was great with the kids. We are planning another trip or two with him this year.

I second or third Travis Lovell. Travis has kids and works well with them.

Josh Ellender is good too.

That being said, the bite in DU needs to pick up soon. It should get hot before long

How old is your boy? If he's old enough, it would be fun to take him on a yellowfin trip. Paradise outfitters or Mexican Gulf fishing co in Venice are always doing really well.
