Yep. My dad should be home tomorrow after a week spent out there on public land for elk/black bear. Trip wasn't nearly as expensive as I woulda imagined. But they drove the 2,310 one way trip to see the country. He said it was the best thing he's ever seen and they didn't kill anything. He still had the trip of a lifetime and is planning on going back again. The next time you can bet your arse I will be there

Not sure if your dead set on elk or new Mexico but me and my buddy went to Montana 2 years ago for mulies and tagged out within an hour of each other the first morning. Prolly totally freak occurrence but still had a blast of a trip. We drove the 28 hours too. Hidden Valley Outfitters.
