GSP Breeders UPDATE: We have found our puppy

Ok so we're finally ready to get a GSP puppy. I'm looking for reputable breeders with dogs that are registered and that hunt.

I've done a lot of research over the past few weeks and we finally found our puppy.
His name is Mack and we're picking him up tomorrow. We're really excited about the new addition to our family.

I don't want to travel over six hours away from Lake Charles.
I'm looking for a shorthair that will point a bird, hold well, retrieve well, and like water.
Gender doesn't matter and I don't want a meek dog and I don't want a top of the pack dog. One in the middle. I'm looking for liver and white or liver and roan.

I got mine from a guy in Lufkin, Tx. He's a great hunting dog and a wonderful family dog.

Guy I bought my german wirehair pointer from has a good connect with another breeder of shorthairs. Give me a few minutes and I'll find him for you. Somewhere north of dallas.

Had her trained there too. They did an excellent job. GSP can be very soft and ruined pretty easily. The soft touch of a woman trained my bitch right. She did a 180yd blind yesterday.

If you have facebook, request to be added to "HUNTING G.S.P.s" and "Hunting G.S.P.s *Stud dogs, Started dogs and Pups*" Both offer very good info on GPS. There is currently a post running on who likes what dog lines and why. You might have a good breeder within 6 hours, you might not. I would recommend getting the best dog for your purpose wherever it is located, don't limit the search to something close, when you are looking for a 14 year companion...
