Recently our GSP has had dry skin - we haven't changed her diet or anything I can think of - we have been using an oatmeal based shampoo and giving her a bath once or twice a month - she does like to get in our pool during the day but there is very little if any chlorine as once the water temps drop below 60 I stop chlorinating - any shampoo suggestions or other suggestions?

You feeding grain-free? My Vizsla has sensitive skin and it worked for us.

Emu oil is great for dry skin. Also, there are supplements that contain fish oil that will help. Last, a little bacon grease on their food will work well.

Everything above.

Grain free: diamond naturals is cheap and doesnt have corn wheat or soy.

You can bathe more often than that if you want, use a shampoo with conditioner like pert or a dandruff shampoo.

Adding a little oil to their food works well. We buy canola oil by the gallon.

Our bulldog had dry skin issues until we figured out he couldn't have corn in his food.

If you want to nip the problem rather quickly, slather the whole dog in coconut oil after testing a small amount to see if they are allergic. Cover em, let em go play in the yard and rub most of it off on the ground, then bathe em twice to get it off the fur.

You may be bathing more than needed. They have an oil based coat and don't need to be washed as much as other dogs. Mine gets a bath about every 6 wks or so. Make sure you are feeding it a good grain free food. Try the salmon/fish recipe they tend to have the most oil in them. Also, you can add about a tablespoon of oil in their food. We use the Paul Mitchell oatmeal shampoo for dogs and it seems to work well for the most part. I feed nutri-source seafood select.

I add bacon grease to food once a week. It makes the coat nice and shiny.

id get her on grain free. purina makes some now if you want to stick with them. If you are in the BR area go to one of the jefferson feed marts. there is one at seigen/perkins and one at highland/airline. the guys in there are pretty informative about the food and could help you out. they sale a salmon oil that you can use, its about $20 a bottle and stinks like a sum bitch
