Had an amazing goose shoot this morning. Oklahoma allows for a 9 day resident Canada goose season that opened Saturday. There's a small local lake that allows you to hunt these big bastards. I hadn't seen any frequenting the lake during recent scouting trips but decided to swing by at lunch today to see eif maybe they were hitting it mid day.

4 shots later:

And the best part, 4 bands!

All banded on 6/26/2012 in OKC.

You got 5 geese with 4 shots and 4 of the 5 were banded? Jesus.

Not as impressive as it would seem. They were feeding in a gravel parking lot and aren't scared of humans. And they were banded about 3 miles from where I shot them.

Nothing like shooting geese wearing Sperry topsiders and a fishing shirt. Hah.

Sounds like you could've saved some shells and just whacked them over the head with a stick

I have a hunch that those geese had names

Damn there are people on here planning their trip to Oklahoma to shoot banded Canadas now.

That is awesome but I may have left the shooting them in a parking lot out....

Sounds like an ethical hunt. Hopefully you just cut the legs off and threw the birds away. They aren't very good eating anyway after a diet of white bread and french fries.

I think you need to add some action this this story.

You know, walked 4 miles to the parking lot, up hill both ways, had to army crawl the last mile and a half. Caught crossfire from other hunters while collecting the dead... LOL.

Awesome kill though. Pretty jealous

Wait. This is a Louisiana based hunting and fishing board.

When did the standards suddenly skyrocket on us?

Now. That's better.

Damn things ought to come with a bounty on them. Like Nutria rats or something.
