My BIL's brand new Gravely zero turn is stuck in the yard. It just stopped moving. The engine runs but it's doesn't move forward or back. Any suggestions? Sounds like the PTO belt either broke or came off but its brand new. Like 2 weeks old.

Check to make sure the bypass valve is pushed in, it's the little rod that sticks out and let's you roll the thing

He said he check that. Only thing I can figure is the belt slipped off.

It was a broken spring. I've had my spring pop off but never break.

what model Gravely. I am about to pull the trigger on a new Z-turn and Gravely is top of my list right now.

I'm not sure. He's had it 2 weeks. Gravely was at the top of my list also. A spring isn't a big deal but it sucks to be left in the yard. I'm going to look more at warranties.

It happening at two just weeks is a little disconcerting. Even though it is under warranty it makes you wonder how often he will be left stuck in the yard.

My top two right now are Gravely ZT HD and Hustler Raptor SDX. Been back and forth trying to decide.

IF something major is going to happen it will likely happen in the 1st few weeks.

I have a Gravely walk behind that I got in 2011. It's been a beast ever since I bought it.

So it appears there was a part recall for that model's tension spring. He said they fixed it on the spot and never even took it off the trailer. Must have been a bad batch of tension springs. Doesn't sound like a major problem or anything to be too concerned about.

You would think the dealership would have fixed a recall before selling it

I wouldn't let this turn you away from Gravely they are proven reliable, every manufacturer has some sort of recall or fix that a dealer is responsible to complete prior to sale, dealers miss stuff as well. We have a 42" commercial that has over 500hrs and we just had to change a worn drive belt. We run 2 for our small mowing business and will be upgrading next year sticking with Gravely.

Some recalls are just repair recalls. You don't change everyone just the one's that come in broken. It could just be they improved the spring but not everyone is having issues so they replace as needed.

I’ve had a gravely for ten years now. I have beat the hell out of it and all I’ve done is change worn belts, oil, filters and blades.

Great mower
