Like someone else said though, you can get into the mindset of recording everything and not actually enjoy it while it's happening. I've been guilty of this with the gopro and with my camera.

i can also attest to this
went to patagonia in january, came back with 80gbs of footage and now i don't even want to frick with it because it's too much

I have the Hero3 black edition and love it. I bought it for my boat, but have used it for capturing our family vacations to the beach. It is fairly easy to use and takes great video. The sound is a little weak with the water proof case on it, but I have just added music to my videos before uploading to youtube. I do all of my editing in iMovie. I bought the head strap, roll bar mount for the boat and purchased an extension pole.

Then, you can't see what you're recording unless you buy another accessory, a view finder. T

Actually, you can. Download the app and use your phone as the view finder (connects via wifi). It's free.

They have free templates you can use if you download the software. You just drag and drop the clips. Takes a few minutes max.

No they are great audio is good as long as you don't use the waterproof case you can mount it on your gun toss it in a lake down a mountain strap it to your dog trust me you will have a blast with it.

My BiL has a couple of them. One of them is a tiny little thing he hangs under his Phantom II Quadcopter on a gimbaled mount. He's done video off of one our sailboats under sail and that shite was absolutely stunning. Flew it off and around a few times and brought it back in knowing it was a goner if it hit the water. But yeah, he says that even with the gimbal mount he still has a hard time getting long enough shots from it without slowing them down.

I have the Hero 3 Silver. The audio seems to be just fine. I've used it while riding a float for Mardi Gras, fishing, hunting, and running a half marathon.

I used the head band during the half marathon and it did not bother me at all.

I have not tried to edit any videos yet.
