Shooting a duck sitting on water = Arkansas wing shot ;)
Have I shot a sitting duck? Raises hand
But as pointed out earlier there are more vital areas exposed when they are flying (except when flying straight away).
Once place I hunted had shooting lanes set in the decoys so birds could land, get more than one lined up ..... but that was old school for folks that were raised in the depression and times were really tight.
Mount a hen goldeneye .... I would pass, they are common on Atl flyway, now a nice drake I would mount or mount a pair but not a hen alone.

They are more common in La. than most of this board thinks.
I would never mount a single hen anything.

Literally the thing I am trying to do while hunting is sit birds in decoys
Gotta agree with JB on this one...If my calling and spread set up gets em to give up, that's the deal...but I don't shoot em on the water at 45 yards cuz if they land in the decoys they are a lot closer than that...

This. See them on large lakes in north Louisiana.
