What are some of your favorite meals to have at the camp? Do you like to precook and reheat, or cook it after the hunt? just looking for some new ideas.

I love to cook some sausage on the grill with a piece of backstrap, and a can on bush's baked beans set on the grill cooked down to a thicker product

Our campsite is very primitive so we cook over an open fire. We usually cook deer burgers, pork steaks, sausage, or backstrap. We usually just eat sandwiches for lunch.

Smothered potatoes and a drunk chicken

Set the chicken on when you leave for an afternoon hunt. Just have to make sure your coals are right

That's a good idea. Might try that next weekend to change it up a bit.

My favorite is breakfast on the griddle that goes over the open fire.

Night time meals are big pot as we usually ave 10+ people there. Gumbo, jambalaya, etouffe, sauce piquant

Always cook on friday nights then eat off of it all weekend.
Usually a rotation of
1. Sauce Picante
2. Gumbo
3. Beans
4. Jambalaya/Pastalaya
5. burgers

I like to start the first night off with a whole rib eye where everyone cuts their own steak. Potatoes and Salad.

Most other nights we cook what we kill or catch. For me anything in a black iron pot at the camp just takes better.

We normally cook at the camp I am not a big fan of having stuff cooked off site and brought there. I like to DIY when at the camp and I like to eat better at the camp then I do at home.

What method of cooking do you use for this? It never seems to come out right when I do it.

This.

Depending on the hunting, I've been the camp dog before. I'm not a huge deer hunter, but I love to go to the camp. Few years ago for Thanksgiving weekend, I went to my buddy's camp. Bout 4 or 5 of us were out there for three nights. I believe I hunted twice in four days.

Had a blast

Typically cook on the grill every night, and sometimes have a treat from the kitchen (gumbo, jambalaya, etc). Tenderloin from a fresh kill, and every body beyond sausage, burgers and steaks.

Then there's the one guy who shows up and says "Y'all want believe this. I bought 20 ribeyes for $25 in the AutoZone parking lot."
