2 weeks ago we had some good luck 30 minutes before & after sun up fishing the rock jettys at the pass before you get on the isle. Topside blue & silver she dog. We also picked up 12-15 flounder fishing the rocks also.

Fish the surf at sun up and sun down. Throw a cast net for live bait. Flounder then fish the bridge at night. Drink the entire time.

But not at Hurricane Hole, you'll go broke. Unless you're OB rich, then don't listen to me.

I've been to hurricane hole once after it opened to see what it was about. I don't go down to the island to go out for dinner and drinks.

That's the best part about Grand Isle, all the stuff to do when you're not fishing. I think that's a big part of what it has over other places on the coast. I like grabbing a shower and going to have a nice meal. Especially at Hurricane Hole, the food and service is head and shoulders above anything else out there.

Every time I have been to Starfish, I'm amazed that they can be that slow and give so few shits.

To me nothing caps off a morning of fishing like a burger at Joe Bobs. Starfish is decent but slow as hell.

My issue with the Hurricane Hole is prices, though I'm a cheapskate. I understand you're in a bit of a tourist destination but $23 for a plate of fried shrimp and fries is rapey.

Agree with the Joe Bob burger.

It's a little steep, but most things are on the island. I like the tacos and usually a grilled fish special. It's pretty legit and a good meal to have before crashing. Plus, it's right next door to Ricky's.

I'll still go occasionally but I cringe knowing all the bait shrimp I could buy at Coastal with that money.

Being next door to Ricky's is probably why it's so high dollar, to keep the riff raff like me out.

Hurricane Hole has a new bar and grill upstairs above their new fuel dock. It's a nice venue with a great view of the bay/sunset. Some sweet arse sportfishers in the marina also. The marina out there is beautiful. too nice to be in Louisiana.

I get that but I'm still not looking for dining, at best I'll go to Artie's. It is the best sports bar on the Wedtbank.
