Free, AKC Registered American Water Spaniel

I'm trying to find a home for an AKC Registered American Water Spaniel I found on BayouBucks.com. He is 18 months old with all his shots up to date and is neutered. The gentleman getting rid of him doesn't have time to train him like he thought he would and is having a baby soon. He is about 45lbs right now and is probably a little overweight. He shouldn't get any bigger, that's for sure.
I may end up taking him, but don't really have the time/money to deal with another dog right now. I just don't want to see such a great dog go to a bad home or get put down. AWS's are very good retrievers and are not cheap (usually run $800-$1000 a pup). Here is a video of him retrieving:

Here is a link to the ad on BayouBucks too:

I hope someone on here is looking for a great duck dog or family pet - they really are cool dogs.
***I have no personal investment or direct interest in this dog other than seeing and looking into the ad, I just want to see him go somewhere good.***

If I could bring a dog home I'd go get him after work.

That would be a pretty sweet deal. Unfortunately I'm far the great white north of Alabama and already have a nine month old Brittany and a two year old lab. Good luck finding him a home.

Yeah he was flown into Lake Charles from Iowa. The problem is no one in South LA knows a damn thing about AWS's. There are only an estimated 3,000 in the whole world and they really are awesome dogs. I have a 1 year old Boykin who could use a running mate, but don't have the time or coin for another mouth in the house.

Well, my wife really wants a dog of her own. I will talk to her at lunch...

Why was the leash still on while he was swimming? Seems it could wrap around a paw and he would be in trouble.

Cannot believe he left that leash on that pup

I've trained my lab with a check cord in the water.

I did not catch that coco was not in posession of this dog. In fact the gentleman in posession did not even know of this thread or TD for that matter.

I generally don't use the cord in water, but have done it before and have seen others do it too.
