Just found one at Walmart for $367 at Walmart plus tax. 336W.

Anyone know what the letter designations mean?

W is the basic (cheapest) version. I can't remember all the designations that have come and gone, but I think they mostly have to do with the wood used. I have a 336W that I bought back in 2004 from Walmart.

I believe the 336C is the nicer one, and the 336W is the cheaper one. Different stock I think.

It looked cheap. The wood looked like something off a daisy red rider.

I think that's the one I have. Guts are all the same, and I'm not trying to impress anyone with it. It's got a good bluing on it and a decent wood stock, just not finished as nice as some of my other guns. Still never getting rid of it though

Just went back and offered $280. Got shut down. He's standing firm on the $300 + tax.

Go back in two weeks. Or go find another, there are plenty around.

1. First you said "$300 out the door." Now you say "$300 + tax." That's not a huge difference, but it's bigger than the difference between your offer of $280 and his price of $300.

2. Have you examined the bore to make sure it's not pitted? On a gun that old, corrosion can be an issue, and can affect accuracy.

Went back to Walmart to look at the new one again and the iron sight on it was crooked.

How much time/energy/gas are you wasting trying to save $20?

There are better deals out there but if you want it buy it.

Throw $250 cash dollars, or whatever your top is, on the counter and if he don't take it walk. They made more than one of them.
