Well, so far, so good. They already said they were gonna put a new motor in it.

It was running perfect when I pulled in so IDK.

That's a very good indication that a tech fricked up. They wouldn't immediately jump to that solution otherwise.

Either way, if the dealer made that call without contacting the factory first than props to them. It's tough to find people who will take care of the customer first and worry about who's going to eat the bill after. Grats on the brand spanking new engine

$100 says they cranked it with no oil. Happens all the time.

Was this at Robinson Brothers?

No, Banner.
They are stepping up and I've always had it serviced there.

I definitely wouldn't sweat this if I was you. I'd be worried about my HPFP letting go and wiping out the top end of my engine.

You're taking that much better than I would. The dealership isn't "stepping up"---they're getting a huge pay day on a service bill. One of two things happened

1. Your engine spontaneously blew up at the exact time they were changing the oil---which is impossible to believe, but if it did happen then I'd have little faith in the engine going forward.

or

2. They fricked it up and they're getting paid to fix it. Meanwhile you get a truck that has been completely taken apart, and maybe even put back together correctly, but if they're incapable of changing the oil how can they change a motor?

You do realize they completely take the whole front end apart when they do this right? Cab and all

Even with no oil, other than the residual left from the prior change, I'd think it would run a long time before "locking up".

I would try to get some type of warranty on whatever they do to fix it, considering they likely fricked it up in the first place.

That or immediately sell it and buy a new one

Yeah and lucky it blew up in their care, otherwise they would've acted like it was your fault when that bitch was knocking and blue-smoking while leaving the parking lot.
