I've piddled around on it a couple times but never fished it hard. Beautiful.

Y'all wading or floating?

My superintendent has a house on it and fly fishes. He does pretty good. Make sure there's no rain in forecast. His family got caught in that Memorial Day mess

Never fished the Guadalupe but I have fly-fished the Chatooga on the GA / SC border.

What kind of trout do they have in TX?

I've never fly fished it but I did go mess around with a spinner bait and a catch a couple of dinks one time. There's a state park with access that I went to just so I could scratch the Guadalupe Bass off my list.

is it stocked or wild fish? I heard its rainbows or brown trout but wasn't sure if it was stocked.

The guadalupe bass is a naturally occurring black bass that is similar to a spotted bass. I don't know if there are any trout in the river except to say that I didn't catch any.

They stock them in the winter and then they die off in the summer when the water gets too hot. I did see a guy catch a nice bow after I thought it would be too hot last year so you never know.

Might be some smallie's too. They got em in the Devil's. I've caught some bream on wooley booger's and bass on beetle spins and plastics. Water snake ate all my damn minnows one year. There are some big gar in the slow patches.

Summer could be tough fishing between the Canyon Lake damn and New Braunfels. Tittay's and beer is the theme at that time! We used to go one week a year and camp on the river with family for the family vacation. My cousin had a water balloon launcher and when I was about 14 we hit a passed out chick and some dude got pissed and started throwing rocks at us. He hit a camper and shite talking ensued and my dad and uncle walk over. Old boy wouldn't listen to them to stop chunking rocks and even made fun of my uncle's Strike King sunglasses. We got the nod to load up with rocks. After a few warning shots, old boy turned down river.

leaving tomorrow morning. cousin said good chance of smallies but most of the trout probably died with the heat. he also said conventional tackle with corn will get the trout if flies down

What's the policy on smallmouth there? I know they are realizing stocking such a closely related species into Guadalupe bass area was a bad idea due to hybridization and are bit concerned with Guads these days.

5 fish minimum of 14"
Guad fishing regs

People talk about a lady that lives down on the Devil's River who throws every smallmouth she catches on the bank. I guess she thinks they are taking over. I don't think they're native, but they have them down in Amistad too.

Apparently there are Guadalupe/Smallmouth hybrids.

This would be cool

Not what you would expect a central Texas German town fishing guide to look like, but hey......

Yeah, the hybridization is the issue. I'm not a proponent for wanton waste of wildlife or fish, but I'm all for removing exotics/invasives pretty much at all times.
