Anyone ever built their own floundering lights? looking for some ideas so I don't have to carry around heavy arse batteries any more.

Gigging lights? I built something like this, sealed up the LED with some silicone and it did fine, I power it with a 12v deer feeder battery in a backpack and it does fine and not very heavy.

Plenty of Youtube videos and "How to" articles online. PensacolaFishingForum.com is a good place to find floundering info. I priced out all the materials to build my own but ended up buying one from "Coastal Floundering Lights" for not much more than parts price. Hes a guy in BSL that sells them and has a page on Facebook. Many of the new lights are powered by deer feeder battery that is very light, you can find them at Academy or Amazon.

FWIW I really like my light and its worth every penny. I got the one with dual lights. Gigged 6 flounder on the first night I used it.

Yep. Same ones. I picked mine up from him directly in BSL and I think it was around $100. They are well built and will last a while.

If you already have some of the materials (PVC, Wiring, Epoxy) and are handy it might be worth your while to build yourself. You can find the actual lights online. I believe the biggest issue is getting the light housing 100% waterproof.

I built one out of PVC and a Led light bulb. I use a 8 piece AA battery case that's light and fits in my pocket to get 12 volts. I had some PVC pipe and wiring in my shop. Bought some fittings, LED bulb, and battery case. Have about $30 in the build.

Used this how to forum post as a guide to my build.

We put a wheel chair battery in a fanny pack. Total weight is about 6 pounds.
