Fishing report in Delacroix?

I'm heading over there tomorrow afternoon and fishing Saturday and Sunday. This will be my first time fishing here but I've heard the fishing has been pretty good recently. I plan on putting my kayak in at Sweetwater. Any suggestions?

We smoked the reds 2 weekends ago, but struggled last weekend. Water was really dirty everywhere we went.
eta: no trout which is really what I was looking for

We were there the 17- 19th, it was slow but we caught a good mess. Caught a few trout, but no size to them.
Got on some bass down there too. Only caught on shrimp on a jig, the bass came on spinner baits.

Polar Pop is the Delacroix expert. Wait for him to chime in and he will put you on them.

It depends on where you go right now. There's some areas that are crystal clear. They aren't in Delacroix. Have to fish out of Reggio. There's some fish stacked in spots over there. Trout are small, but thick in spots. So are the bass. You may have to do a good bit of paddling, but limits are easy

When you go up the channel, first cut on the right will have a gar next to first clump of grass.
Directly across channel will be 1000lb 13ft gator on nest, she just growls real loud and slaps tail but wont hurt you.
Go on up and to the right will be a rock dam. Gar just on other side of wall but dont play too long or you get boxed in by 6 pack gators (800lb 7 footers).

Went last weekend, water bad low and windy. Caught crab trap on the lower unit twice.

I'm ready for a change of scenery and less grass, possibly bringing the yaks to Cocodrie tomorrow morning.

Thanks guys. Polar Pop, would you suggest putting in at sweetwater or putting in at Regios? I haven't been to either I'm just trying to figure out which is better for kayaking

7 person limit on Reds Monday, 2 man limit on Tuesday with same 7 people. A few mixed drum, flounder, bulls, but zero trout. Almost all were caught with shrimps or spoon.
Polar Pop will tell you to wait for a rainstorm, location doesn't matter.

Sweetwater charges $10 per kayak, Serigne's charges $5 per kayak. But if you launch at Serigne's, be careful. The launch is covered in algae and slicker than eel shite.
Also Reggio is $10 honor box. I would say the easiest of the three to launch a kayak is Serigne's because there is a narrow back down boat ramp on the left side that boats rarely use. You have much less chance of holding up a line of boats trying to launch at Serigne's.

Check out Sweetwater's Facebook page. They said the trout are showing up on the interior of the marsh. We killed the Reds and blacks two weeks ago.

Reggio was really stained. I was never further than a mile from the launch in my kayak. Further out may have been clearer. Managed to get into a school on a flat and catch a couple toads
28"
Looked like a ton of yaks went to Delacroix

2 weeks ago we killed the Reds. Couldn't catch em on tolwater but played catch and release until it got too hot. Also couldn't get them to bite when sight fishing. They'd swim behind it and turn away right when they should've bit. Tried several baits and couldn't get em. I'll get em next time

I fished Delacroix for 4 hours this evening and only one small one. Gonna try reggios in the morning

If you stay close to the launch at Reggio, the water will be stained. If you paddle a ways off the beaten path you'll find gin clear water without a doubt

I'm gonna try to just paddle until it's clearer just not sure which direction haha. Hopefully not too far of a paddle
