What you guys use?

Just got a new Penn spinning real with a 7' medium action rod. Plan to use it for all sorts of coastal and Marsh fishing in South Louisiana. I'm not one to have too many set-ups but I may get a baitcaster to play with soon.

Thinking 10# for the spinning set-up...... What says the OB brain trust?

Hate to admit it here, but I don't think I've ever used braided. Is braided preferred for a baitcaster?

Got some 50 year old braided on some old Penn Senators, my grandpaw left me........ That's about it.

Cheap rod and an old Penn 4500. I don't use sinkers unless Im out front. Ive used nuts and bolts, but never tried a sparkplug.

what size penn? if similar to shimano's 4000 series reels then i'd suggest 30# powerpro. if similar to shimano's 3000 series then i'd suggest 20# powerpro.
the 2 setups have been working fine for me for yrs.
also, put a backer line on it
