I think this has been discussed before but the search....nevermind

Just got a camp in grand isle and my fishing is going to be more frequent than ever. Gonna start a journal or log of my trips that way year after year i have an idea of where i caught them etc.. anyone have any ideas of things to include or does anyone have a template they are willing to share?

I keep one for bird hunts. All of the technical stuff Coco mentioned as applicable to the scenario, plus I keep everyone's name in the hunting party.

I use Lowrance but I believe a bunch are supported by the free converter software GPSBabel.

I record on Lowrance, save route/waypoints to MicroSD, convert file and upload to Google Earth. I then polish the route and add info onto Google Earth and save for archive and research later.

I can also do opposite... create route I want to take including way points in Google Earth. Convert file to Lowrance and upload. I scout a lot using this method.

How are you adding the attributes to the route in Google Earth or are you placing pins with the info you want to record?

Yes, pins and fill out the info (description). I put the weather, tide, time of day, etc with the pin on my launch location.

I save as .KMZ and email to myself. That way I can search and pull them up where ever I have cell service. I could probably just save them to my phone because the files are tiny with average size of 50kb

It's a great idea, but becomes a giant pain in the arse after a while
