We didn't, but we saw a lot of people fly-fishing the streams along 441 when we were up there 2 weeks ago

Go though the Nat'l park over to Cherokee, and get a day permit. I think it's like $10. You can actually eat what you catch there, unlike nasty ole Gatlinburg.
Plus, it's a nice drive through the park. Not too long. You can bring the family and they can do reservation touristy stuff while you fish.

fish downtown gatlinburg on fridays if you wana catch fish. they shut down fishing every thursday and release trout in the stream for the tourist. Friday morning hit it wide open catching fish. I caught several last yr on a ultra lite spinning reel

You can definitely catch some fish on worms close to town if you're not into fly fishing. We managed to catch a few on our own on one of our first fly fishing trips, but walking out of the river we realized that we'd been fishing the designated "kids zone" . If you have a kid with you, definitely go there. They were basically jumping on the hooks.

Menji, This is an excellent suggestion. Did some research, looks like the thing to do. Thanks!
