Anyone fish this area and do any good? Fourleague Bay? I’m thinking I’m going to launch in amelia. I’m in town for the weekend and want to take my Dad and son out to catch a few but have never fished this area.

Any advice is appreciated guys!!

It’s a helluva long run from Amelia but out the mouth of Oyster Bayou are some traditionally great producing trout spots/platforms. Pickets, Mardi Gras, N-star, Teapot, Little Cuba, Coon Pt. That’s the extent of my knowledge for summer fishing in that area.

In Four League Bay I’ve caught fish at Lost Lake, Halters Island and some of those bayous and cuts. But that was during early duck season. Run The Chene to the Avoca cutoff. (Check on my camp while you down there). Stay in the channel along the bank of Eastern Four League. Its shallow across the bay. That’s about all I know. Haven’t been down there past the Avoca cutoff in a few years.

That is my go to area. I fish Halter Island and Point au Fer on a regular basis. I generally fish Halter island on an incoming tide and point au fer on an outgoing tide.

There is a new channel connecting the river to the pass along the bank and its not marked very well.

I always do well but I have been fishing it for 30 plus years. I would recommend launching at Morgan City.

Yes it connects the river channel to the dear island channel

There were several 4" by 4" post marking the channel but 1/2 of them are gone.

ST. Mary Parish is in the process of getting standard channel markers placed there. I have the route marked on my GPS so for me it is easy to find.

They had some nice haulters island channel markers for like a month , then a tug wiped the all out , it was back to the tiny white PVC pipe chutes with red and green tape

My arse puckers up driving that channel, so easy to get stuck if you don't run the channel a lot .

Eta: long time ago that is

Most of the pilings have be replaced but the red markers are faded. Its a little tricky but not problem if you are familiar with it. My advise it don't go unless you have a guide.

FYI the tides are horrible this weekend otherwise I would be out there.

This is good advice, that lower part of river can cause some troubles if you aren't used to it.
