I find it hard to believe they are slimier than a gafftop.

I don't buy the slimier thing. Hell, crappie are slimier than goo. The flesh is oily though. Very oily.

nothing is that slimy. the meat just stinks in a skillet. gafftop is actually edible.

The only way I've ever eaten them is smothered. You lay the whole fish in a pot and add a little water to start cooking. They have a white fat on their belly flaps that dissolves as the fish cooks. It makes a white gravy that grows on you if you give it a chance. The flesh tastes good too.

Catch them often while crappie fishing. They'll bend a little spinning rod with 8lb test.

Hey alx tgr, I know the goo in that picture. Curious who he is to you.

BTW, the hump on the goo`s back has fat in it that taste bad. Trim that off when you fillet and it taste just fine to me.

Both my parents would, but then again, they were the worst preparers of steak ever. I to go to LSU to discover that steak was not the worst supper one could have.

A truer statement has not been written on TD. I still cant figure out how the dang things can get slime 10 feet up your line.
