Gents, going to buy lock on and would like some suggestions and opinions. I’m near a bass pro and academy. What brand and style do y’all like and idea on the ladder or attachments?

Make sure you have fall protection. Ladder lean to stands are much safer. Pick up some extra ratchet straps too!

Academy brand is good. Can get stand/steps for under $100. I'd rather buy more stands than one expensive good one.

I use Millineum M-25. You can find them on Amazon for as low as $88 sometimes. Great stand, comfortable, and comes with a life line.

There are several others that are good, but I would always stick to a sling seat and not a metal one.....your arse and back will thank you

Putting it up and leaving it, or is this a mobile set-up?

No matter what it says on the box, you’ll need two more heavy ratchet straps to get it tight against the tree and leveled out. A good harness and lineman’s belt are worth their weight in gold for hanging these stands. If I could find a tall enough ladder stand I’d never use another one.

I prefer a single piece climbing stick. The individual lengths are a pain in the arse to hang.

Hands down. Very comfortable.

Like everyone had said, make fall protection a priority.

If you are not buying a millennium you are a fool.

That pretty much sums up your options.

I have a millennium m-100u. I love it. Super comfortable and light enough to pack around.

Millennium is the way to go for sure, I've got 8 scattered around and wouldn't go with anything else. Get enough climbing sticks to go a full section above the foot platform, getting in and out is the most critical time to be safe and entering and exiting from above the platform is key. Use a lifeline and also a climbing belt during installation, and go for trees that are straight at the point of attachment and not leaning forward.

You are correct. Just bought 4 of them to hunt Illinois. Those life lines are awesome. Keeps you connected 100% of the time.

I don't move mine much so I have the Millennium M150 and these staiirs from Hurricane Saefty Sysytems. These steps have an angle to them vs being totally vertical. Lock-on Accessories

Easier than the normal stairs for me. Just one section at a time as you go up. You can lean forward to install vs. hanging on and hoping your don't kill yourself.
Install

Milennium for sure. If you’re going to leave it in place, definitely get a life line. It’s awesome.
