I am installing a new fence and want to put access in my back corner for backing in a trailer. I live on a corner, so I have about 120' of fence line along the road. It's 14' from the street. I'll need to back it in 90 degrees, so thinking 12' should be good. Trailer is a boat with 9' beam.

The fence is 4x4 post, 2x4 and 6' dog ear pickets. Figured I'd need 6x6s along there but looking for recommendations.

I won't be parking the trailer often, maybe once every year or so, but I'd like the access and if I ever need to get some equipment back there, it would be available. I have 2 dogs, so it needs to be secure for them. It's flat grassy terrain.

Anybody have a good rec on a gate style that fits?

12' is a long span especially with a wood fence. We just put in a page fence/gate spanning 12' and used a 6" metal pole. Oh, it's 8' high.
ETA, you doing two 6' gates?

just finished a small chain link - bought pieces from lowes and many pieces dont fit - hinge pin too big for female -clamps too big for pipes - check everything before you cement pipes- they have three sizes of pipe- home depot same thing- bought bag of larger bolts - suprise- three different sizes- must have been packaged by Curly, Larry and Moe

That gate kit works very well, make sure you get the one with 3 2x4 runners.

I would buy 2 - 6' tube gates at Tractor Supply. Paint the gates a wood/fence color and attach the wood fence boards directly to the tube gates with screws.

Something kind of like this with the fence board attached to the gate without the 2x4 framing and install the gates level.

I had a 10ft gat on my fence and had 6x6. For a 12ft I'd probably consider 8x8.

I just built my gate with cedar. Framed around it with cedar 2x4 then criss crossed with 2x4s. I'll look for a picture

Here it is from the front

This, but would go to harbor freight and buy some big wheels and add them at the bottom on the ends for support.

Have you looked at a sliding/rolling gate?

I've browsed a lot of types, just not sure what might work the best for myself. My main concern is the dogs. I'm thinking I'll need to lay some concrete along that section, about 8"-12" wide, just so they don't have the chance to dig. They are diggers but guessing if there is enough gap, they might evolve.

This is a must.

I have a 10' gate and my bay boat fits thru it no issues. Also when they poured my patio they brought a concrete truck through it. It has some sag due to my buddy building them, but I can't complain they open if I need.

12' seems to be a little big to me. 10' will work for a boat

I took a rec from here and used a large gate on the left that attaches to a 4x4 that sides into a pvc sleeve in the ground. When I want to use the big gate I take the lag bolt out of the fence, take the 4x4 it and I have a big gate. The right side is a normal fence gate

To pull through, I could easily do 9.5', but I am having to back it in at a 90 degree angle. its about a 28' dual axle trailer. I dont think there is anyway I can get it in at 10', as I will be at an angle coming in. I am thinking 9' beam boat, at an angle, adds at least 2 feet.

So two gates with a 4x4 post in the middle. With one of the gates lag bolted on the non-hinged side?

Exactly. A big one that lag bolts into the sleeved 4x4. Then the other gate attaches to the latch on the lag bolted gate. I just use the smaller gate normally but when I need to move something big in, I take the lag bolt out, remove the 4x4 and swing the big gate open. Voila.

Broke,

What did you use for the PVC sleeve and how solid is the post in the sleeve?

Good frame, shitty latch. If you use it more than 1x per month, it will break and the frame doesn't make it conducive to the off-the-shelf latches.
