Headed to Falcon Lake on the Texas/Mexico border, March 3rd through the 6th. Buddy & I have a guide for that Friday and Saturday, so I won't be taking my boat. Anything I need to know or recommendations? Will be our first time down there.

Falcon kinda sucks now. Save your money and just go to Toledo.

I've never personally used Tommy Law.

I had a buddy go not too long after Paul Elias did what he did and he went with Tommy. His experience was pretty much this: LINK

Said he basically saw you as someone that was paying to be in his boat while he fished. Then, in 2011. Law set the new lake record......while he was guiding!

I've been with guides 3 times. Toho, Big O, and Pickwick. I've never had a guide wet a line.

You should go all the way to the back of Salado and have a picnic by the church.

Never been but my buddy went two years ago and he said they had four rods in the boat and at least 8 guns.. he told me about some sketchy situations they got in where theses guys with ak's would come out,,Guide told them to look down don't make eye contact and they would get the hell out of dodge.. And about how they came up on some burning Tahoes riddled with bullet holes.....but they slammed the fish on speed craws caught countless 4 and 5's..a few 8's and 9's

I'm wearing my American Flag pearl snap all day. As a veteran of the armed forces, I won't stand for rowdy behavior from our nasty friends to the south.

Have been multiple times. March it a great time if year to go. Have caught 2 over 10 lbs there. The southern half of the lake is best. Had great luck in the Tigres creek. Key on trees with larger rock piles. If you catch a nice fish throw back to that spot at least 5 times. The big ones group up.

Also large tackle and line. You break off a lot of fish. When hooked the run straight to the underwater mesquite

I been a few times when I was living in Corpus Christi. Had a great time and caught some nice fish. The lake was better back then. It still took 40+ lbs to win a one day event. Last time I looked people were winning with 20 lbs stringers.

Use braid on everything but a crankbait and if you are going to fish a crankbait use chartreuse with a blue back. I have thrown multiple colors there, but found that to be the best. For some reason I find the bass fight harder there then any other place I been.

Also we fished the Mexico side and never had any problems.

I've been as far South as Choke Canyon. The flooded mesquite and rocks are brutal on your line. I used spiderwire, with a mono leader.
