Ever used aglime to adjust pond pH?

I'm looking into using agricultural limestone to bring up the pH in a stormwater collection pond that we have. Right now, the pH fluctuates between 5.7 - 6.3 for the most part. I'd like for it to be consistently a little higher around 6.5 - 7.
I'm doing some online research and reading a lot of different, and sometimes conflicting, text on the subject of agliming soil and pond water.
Just wanted to see if anyone on here has some experience with this, and maybe some do/don't tips from their experience.

True. Just don't ask Nascar Fan. His pond is more like a puddle.

yes, i've used ag lime with success. you can also use gypsum. both of them will also clarify the water because Ca+ will de-floculate suspended solids (make the dirt clump together and fall out of suspension). this can have a detrimental effect on fish if you clarify too much and they don't have adequate shade/cover to avoid excessive sunlight exposure to their eyes.
