Looking for any info on guides, places to go, licenses. I figured some of you guys have been.

My BIL goes to Vermejo Park in NM, just south of the CO border. Here are the hunting rates...check out the guided cow hunts, you can end up with a ton of meat and most of the experience for much cheaper than the trophy hunts.

I'm going with a handful of guys next year to hunt public land. We've been putting in for preference points the past couple of years and are hoping we all draw for 2018. One of my friends uncles that is coming with has been hunting public land there for a long time and is going to show us the ropes. Looking forward to it.

Are you looking up places for 2017? Id think anyone that knows their stuff will be booked or close to booked up. As said, if you want private land its going to cost you and outside of that the better areas are going to be preference point which will take you a couple of years.

If you do not have points, public won't be that great.
How much money are you looking to spend?

I killed an elk last year in Utah on oublic land.
Killed a muley this year on public land.
In the West, the season is so short that evety dick in the state is out hunting. It is nuts, but a blast too.
Don't know Colorado. Good luck!!

I am looking for 2017. Buddy wants to go this year. He's getting married and wants to do his instead of bachelor party. Just found out so we have no points. Gonna check out some guided stuff

$5,000 per hunter will be a starting point for a guided hunt. $8,000+ would start getting in the class of a quality hunt.
Again, how much are you planning to spend?
A much better potential option is a guided New Mexico antelope hunt. Lots of fun and lower cost.

we are going to Trujillo Creek outfitters in October its just outside Trinidad Co, my father in law and his brother have both killed nice elk/mules with this outfitter so we are going up with them again. starting price is 3500 + license fee for bull elk, and 3500 + 1500 + license for mule deer, and you have to pull a tag for mules.
