Anyone else suddenly having an issue finding a place to dump used oil? Usually it's no big deal and now there are a lot of full oil tanks. Ended up at a Wal-Mart; AutoZone & Advanced Auto had full tanks.

I use a old 5-gallon plastic fuel can left over from when I had 2-stroke jetskis to store used oil. Can store plenty of oil changes until ready to dump at the local auto parts places, even if their tanks are full I can wait a while to try again. Don't be some ignorant shithead that dumps that stuff on the ground.

I save it to use in my spreader. It will add years of life to your spreader if you use a lot of fertilizer.

This. I expect most people know better than this by now, but there are always a few idiots still running around.

I think he was referring to the people in the thread recommending that.

See if there are any smiths in the area that need it. Think you can take it to a Take 5 and have them dispose of it too.

Check with the parish dump. They often will take it. If not every day, some have a day a week or a couple of days a month they handle liquid waste like that, paint, household chemicals, etc.

Definitely comes in handy when flushing submerged engines instead of using fresh oil. Stuff is expensive these days! Seems like I'm always trying to save an outboard, go-devil, or someone's lawnmower that got caught in highwater or ended up at btm of canal.
