Saw one in Academy few weeks back. Fell in love. Med/hvy fast tip...perfect for several types of presentations. $100 sounds bout right.

Had some schoolers blow up near the yak this a.m. so I grab the Great White Hope holding a fluke, whip it at the boil, feel him grab it and set the hook.....BAM!!!!....S.O.B broke in half almost exactly at the halfway point. Bottom half smacks me between the eyes and leaves me seeing stars for a second or two. Get my senses back in time to feel the fish still on and work the broken half in to nab a 3 1/2 lber.

Are you frickin' kidding me? First hit and set with this rod and it snaps on the set on a 3 lb fish?

They sure don't make 'em like they use to.

Off to Academy tomorrow to do the exchange. Only bright spot out of this woeful Monday tale.

Damnit I bought the same rod a while back.

I have it sitting in the closet now, the tip was a little too "whippy" for me, I ended up swapping it with a Denali Kovert that I won.

I hope Im not in for the same scenario, might unload it while I have the chance.

I haven't tried but I always see them when I go into Cabels. At least I think it's them. I'm a falcon guy myself. I've tried to break up with them but keep coming back

I broke the Omen I bought last year on a fish this season. Going back to Castaway. They never break.

I figured if anything with a fast tip if it broke it would be at the first foot or so at the tip.
Damn thing broke clean even before the rod really loaded up from the set. And the fish was a good 15-20 yds away, so it wasn't one of those boat-side "cross his eyes" hooksets like when you are trying to keep a fish out of brush. Just a regular ol' fluke set.

As a comparison I had my 6'10" Allstar med/hvy with me also throwing a shaky head on 10 lb test.
I have set on roughly 20 or more fish from 1 lb to 6 1/2 with that rig just in the last two weeks... MUCH closer and up in the pads and that rod comes through it everytime, ...despite my fears in throwing it around/in med. cover.

FWIW wasn't even using braid on the Duckett, just 15 lb Trilene Big Game mono.

Never owned one. Got hooked on Powell rods for inshore stuff and I haven't looked back.

Likewise. I had a salesman show me a rod that he said would make me forget about Falcons forever. Turned out to be a nice Loomis, but at 615$ I politely deferred.

I broke a micro magic on a 7+ on the hookset no long after they came out on the the market... they set me another rod, and I use it probably the most out of all my rods... I was using my St Croix Legend Tournament Edition the other day and flipped a dink in the boat. It broke just below the 2nd eye. It happens man. The rod may have been damaged and you never knew. Could be poor craftsmanship. At least you got the fish. I didn't get the 7+ lol.

Mine feels more like a moderate than a fast.

I think I will just turn it into a shallow crank/rattle trap rod.

Don't see how setting the hook applies to a fish fighting harder.

Did somebody take another picture of me peeing off the back of my boat?

The rod may have been dinged up before you bought it, or before you started fishing. A slight ding will fold a rod pretty quick. Never owned a duckett, so it may have just been a POS as well.

I only buy falcon rods. There might be better out there but I've been satisfied with my falcons.
