What’s everyone seeing in their areas? Out lease in lower Terrebonne, marsh is fried to crisp, but pockets of birds, but a lot less than before last storm. Rain this weekend kept me from stretching out my scouting runs. Might be chasing wormy speckled trout and bass this weekend.

Late harvest around here means not a lot of fields flooded. Good amount of specks down and what fields have water are hold some ducks. Should be a decent opening weekend, per the established norm of recent years. Not shite on the river that I’ve seen.

Setting up for strange season, typically we did well after Katrina and Gustav in those holes opened up by storms. But the constant barrage of storms took a ton of feed away.

Seeing good numbers in fresh water that was not totally wiped out by the storms and high water. Looking forward to a good hunt Saturday

I can tell you in NEA I've seen more birds than usual by pretty fair margin. The nets may be up south of us but looking like the best opening day I can remember in over a decade.

Decent amount of birds in the Delacroix area. Mostly teal but I will take anything at this point.

Took a youngster out last week for youth weekend around the Caernarvon area and he shot his limit of 5 teal and one gray by 7. Not a ton of birds around, but the ones that were wanted to work. We did see more big ducks than we are typically used to down there. Definitely a major improvement from the past couple of years.

Looking for thoughts. Got newly planted rice in our field that was laser leveled this year. Not heading out with seed now, but about a foot above water line. Farmer thinks it may make some seed prior to frost, what are the odds? How long does it take to make grain if temps stay reasonable warm for a bit?

A lot of folks are done cutting second crop right now. If it stays warm it may head out

I have seen a few pintail North of I-10 in flooded rice fields. There are a few small pockets of Specks in the Thornwell area.

Marsh in Hackberry was loaded with feed before the storms, not any left now. Not optimistic but still going to try.

I bet you'll put some seed on before frost knocks it back. Don't see any significant cold weather in the forcast the next couple weeks...

I went and helped a buddy clean up his pit last week in NE LA and their field is in rice this year. The left over rice that is still in the field is obscene. There was one field out there that was holding water and it literally had 10K birds on it which is gonna suck since they will have no groceries come opening day.

It it was cut, then it was left on purpose because the machines don’t leave shite behind these days

Lots of down rice this year around here. Flat as a pancake. It is amazing what the new combines can pickup, but they ain’t getting all of it

Ours has never been harvested, just planted late in a new field. I hope it works like I hoped.
