Is this a redhead? Killed this pair on Saturday, but all the pics I find have a silver back and black breast.

Young Redhead. This years bird and was it's first flight down.

You have to remember that all young birds don't get there color till very later winter. Even old birds don't get into full color till then.

Yeah, that's just my first redhead and the only pics I've seen are mature ones in full plumage

I have a mounted pair that I killed a few years ago on the last day of the season in one shot. Both are old birds and full plumage.

Tried to google pics "redhead speculum" one time to identify one with very drab plumage...people get off to some weird shite...

Last year we had a group of about 1 dozen buzz right over our blind, the sound those Redhead's make in flight is like a jet engine!

We usually see a few the first few hunts of the year and then they're gone.
