Tiger you need to expect a hard time over that. One of the more plentiful ducks in la and also a puddle duck. Should have been a no brainier. One of only two ducks with white patches on the wings.

Sorry for expecting hunters to be educated on what they shoot. How are you supposed to hunt legally when you can't identify what kind of bird something is before (or after in this case) you shoot?

I remember when canvasback was closed people were dropping them left and right and arguing that they were red heads

Widgeon Hen. Noticed some mis-spellings there beforehand.

Short blue bill.Small head. Drake has a nice green stripe over eye. That was my first duck ever killed. If in swamps/flooded timber..she was lost.

Really? The only FEW I've killed were in the marsh. Of the hundreds of ducks I've killed in rice field, never one- not one.

I can't even remember the last time I heard someone around here say they killed one. I'm in Central Louisiana btw.

They're also called "Baldpate" (sp?)

Couldn't agree with you more mylsuhat.

You have the World Wide Web at your fingertips

If you duck hunt the only duck you should have trouble id'ng from the sky is a black mallard vs a black duck.

And black ducks are rare

Did you see more than a pair all year? The male is a beautiful mount.
