For Saturday, rain and strong S winds.

For Sunday Basically a full moon; however the rain over night should hide it hopefully. Wind is changing from S to N overnight, strong all day. Temps dropping through the morning.

Thoughts on second split opener?

I plan on trying to pass shoot a wood duck or three on my private property early Sat. morning and get out of there quickly. Sunday will be the better day to go set decoys and do the full experience.

Doesn't the S wind help? Or am I thinking of the fields right before the marsh?

That strong of a south wind should eliminate offshore rafts

It won't eliminate the rafts if it's almost 80*!! It will feel like a tropical getaway for those bastards offshore. They don't mind a little chop

That's one of the best marsh hunting wind conditions you could ask for, particularly because it's happening on the edge of a front.

Talking about the 78° high

Maybe I was exaggerating a little about hating it. I can't go anyway but it definitely isn't ideal for ducks

I'll be there, and historically opening day of second split has always been gangbusters for us, just wish it felt a bit more ducky.

Some of the best hunts in my 30+ years in Terrebonne Parish have been on strong (15 mph wind or more) South wind days. Last year our best hunt was in the 70's with that 20 mph South wind in late December. Think we had 30 big ducks by 8am. The ducks will fly all day long Saturday.
