I've been fishing the Dularge area pretty heavily all year (Sister Lake/ Mechant/Decade). I've seen a good number of birds the past couple trips, and I'm wondering are these areas all leased, or public. How would I go about finding out, and if leased, who do I contact to get in?!? Thanks for any info.

Pretty much all leased as far as I know. We've had a lease around the bend of decade for 20+ years.

I think Apache is who we lease from.

Did you lease an already existing blind? Or pay to hunt a certain area and build your own?

I read that on another thread earlier, I saw a bunch of greys around Mechant last week. Thanks for the heads up!

Know whee nacko's gas station in on the east side? Go in there during the day and ask for his number and if he has anything to lease in that area.

Call guy at Conoco in Houma, they have all that property around Mechant, down to coast. Salt stuff is better than the stuff up north. Brackish marsh gets covered up with ringnecks. My stuff on coast we've killed 70% greys, 25% teal, balance pintails, a few mallards, cans, redheads, widgeon and only 3 scaup when we hunted bay junop one morning because of water. That's the biggest thing, you have to hunt tides.

We have a long term lease. Honestly they got it before my time around 30 yrs ago. We have a permanent camp on it and built the blinds ourselves. They used to slaughter the ducks back in the day but it's been slow past few years.

It has been picking up steadily the past 3 years though. Mainly ring necks and teal with the occasional grey, green head and pintail.

Falgout landing normally has some ads for available leases as well I think.

Haven't been down yet this year but it normally chokes us out bad early on.

Last 2-3 yrs are the first time we've seen good vegetation in the marsh besides that.

There's good feed closer to the coast this year. No storms have helped. I didn't kill much last year. Hoping for better this year.

We've been putting out weevils annually, not seeing I lot of impact. So yes it's gotten worse. But they've also radically changed the hydrology in the area the last couple years. Much fresher, and the bank stabilization projects hold the water in much longer than in the past. Only 2 things kill that shite effectively, drying it out and saltwater.
