Anyone know of a place that I can pay some cash for me and my fiancee to hunt some doves opening day? Willing to drive but prefer within 2 hours of Baton Rouge

I think I remember there being some duck guides south of Lake Charles that offer guided dove hunts down that way...I have always seen an assload of doves in that area, so it may be worth a try...

Boyd dove hunt in Goodwill. Further than 2 hours but he's got good looking fields this year. Believe he is $100/gun.

His cell is 318-418-0955

I hunted it 2 years ago, there were more people than that property could safely handle. Had to yell at people shooting at us low. That was the last year of the noon opener and they opened the registration at 7:00 that morning. You paid and went and picked your spot. People had been lined up all night. Can't imagine how that worked with a morning opening last year. Perhaps they have a better way now...

Yeah, that was pretty much the 'cat is out of the bag' year. In the past, Boyd's hunts were a bunch of local guys with a small group of RV travelers (that would bring big screen TV's to watch the LSU game).

We hunt about a mile down from Boyd on the same road and that year you went was crazy. The rumor was that another large dove hunt nearby got cancelled and they referred everybody to Boyd and he wasn't ready for it. No idea if that's true or not.

Last year the daylight opener kinda f'd him. The guys that showed up at daylight absolutely hammered them (it looked like a plague of doves). Problem was they shot out that huge group of birds and they didn't come back for the afternoon. So there was a large group of hunters that didn't shoot shite.

I went to our field this past weekend to do some tractor work and Boyd's field is loaded with maize and sunflowers. It looks like he's planning for a large group this year with more incentive to keep the birds around all day long.

Last year, he let people sign in the evening before...

Been to Silver Creek before. One year it was boom, the next it was bust.
