re: dogs chasing you while you ride your bike, question?

Seriously, just reroute your ride or keep pepper spraying the damn thing.
I let my dog out to play with the neighbor's dog. Mine is hyper when he plays with him, but doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. As they are doing laps around my neighbor's house, the neighbor on the other side of him goes absolutely ape shite that my dog is running NEXT to her yard. Like down the property line. She's fricking bonkers.
My neighbor's dog is a 80lb black german shepard. He barks at everybody. My dog is a 40lb ACD, and he barks at nobody. She runs around in absolute terror any time she sees my dog running around, but doesn't say dick about my neighbor's dog.
Anyway, if she were to chase him with a stick, or try to pepper spray him. I probably wouldn't get too pissed. He's built for getting kicked by cows and shaking it off.

Just bring a good stick and knock the shite out of it. No need to get all in sue mode behind a barking dog.

i had a similar regular chaser out on River Road. I used it as an opportunity to sprint and get my blood going.

You must not have ever watched dogs play...the faster you run from it the more it likely thought you were playing with it. Lucky it didnt run you down and roll you, then wait for you to get up and start running again.

Let him bite you

$$$$$
Really though, I think you did the right thing. I doubt he chases you again.

Sounds like you chose the wrong weapon.
Just remember this phrase:

U carry pepper spray? I hope you're a chick

I have no problem with this.

Does nobody just beat shite with a stick anymore???
Never doubt the humble stick as a great attitude adjuster

Since you already sprayed the dog, you may have forfieted your "rights". Dogs can bark at you all day, but if you spray it because it is barking at you and then it bites you, the dog acted in self defense.

Spray the dog/s in the face with your water bottle and it's generally the end of their pursuit. Unless they are thirsty, then you're fricked.

I got a couple of them from the gun show. They are cheap but work great. I bought the large and medium sizes. There was a smaller one that I didn't get, which might be perfect for a jogger.
Nothing to it really, you flick it out and its a solid blunt weapon. Very sturdy. It requires a sharp rap on the bottom to close, like hitting it on the pavement. You can't close it by hand after its been properly opened.

I've pepper sprayed and kicked a dog that came after me. I'm thinking about carrying something a little stronger, like maybe a taser, in the future.

It really depends on the manner in which the dog came towards you. If it was snarling and snapping its jaws while drooling, spray away. If it was just barking while it ran along side of you, highly unlikely that it had intention to bite.

I almost killed a dog with a pair of vicegrips once for shite like this, but i never thought about getting all legal about it.

This is the first thing way too many people think of. Who cares if it knocks you down and you get a scratch or two.

Thats what im having problems with here.
Bring a stick and knock the frick out of it. Its a dog, not a human.
